Oil Still Life Single Session #283

This little still life was the subject for one of the sessions of a recent watercolor class. This composition turned out to be so compelling that I want to propose it for this one session, still life class. This painting, would make for a quite nice piece to hang on your walls or enter in a show. We will aim to finish this painting in this 3-hour session.

You will need a basic oil color palette: white, black, cadmium red and yellow medium, cadmium yellow lemon, alizarine crimson, yellow ochre, burnt Sienna, Raw umber, ultramarine blue and violet. These colors should be sufficient, but feel free to use any other colors you have or you are used to.

We will also need solvent (Turpenoid or Gamsol, and medium (linseed oil, Lquin or Galkid). A few flat brushes, (synthetic will do) Filbert or bright, depending on your painting style, # 2, 4, 8, and a round brush #2 or 4 just in case.

Rags, cups for medium, a palette and a canvas or canvas board about 9” by 12” or slightly larger if you prefer.
