Expressing Colors in Oil #281

Expressing colors in oil, A figure and portrait oil painting course – This oil painting course is designed to stimulate the creative use of color and painting techniques, painting portrait and figure, exploring a variety of chromatic possibilities, inspired by works by masters of the color like Toulouse-Lautrec, Mary Cassatt, Anders Zorn.

During each one of the four-three-hour oil painting sessions of this course we will study and paint from a photographic reference of works of these masters both portraits and figure, studying their technique, their palette and how they used the colors to obtain such expressive and unique artworks.

The participants of the course, will also be encouraged to work on an independent project: a portrait of a subject of their choice, a good way to start making personal aesthetic and technical choices, and put to work the notions discussed and practiced in class. Composition, color mixing, paint handling, materials, color theory, color mixing, color blending and the techniques employed by these masters, are some of the topics, among others, that will be discussed and practiced throughout the duration of the course.
