Drawing like Michelangelo #331

The artistic revolution that the Italian Renaissance introduced, redefined Art and the role of the artist for the following 400 years. Michelangelo Buonarroti, one of the most iconic artists of this period, mastered sculpture, architecture, painting and drawing with equal excellence.

This two-session foundation crash course is dedicated to creating a few of Master copies of drawings he created as studies for his sculptures or frescoes and also figure drawings to study the human form and anatomy.

In this course, we will analyze his style and drawing technique, using red chalk or pastel, charcoal and white chalk.

This Foundation Crash Course is part of a series dedicated to expand your artistic and technical knowledge exploring the works of great Masters of the past and follows the recently offered course on Raphael. Future courses will be dedicated to the works and techniques of Seurat, Prud’hon, Kollwitz, Degas and many more. You can also purchase the recordings of previous sessions on this topic on my website.
