Gesture Drawing Foundation Crash Courses #327

Gesture drawing is a very satisfying way to practice drawing the human figure: with this approach, we can block very quick, dynamic, elegant figure drawings that synthetize the human body in action exalting its sense of movement, the hidden paths of action and the dynamic flows utilizing only the essential lines, using energetic yet clean and synchronized marks. This approach is a great way to perfect your mark making, to sharpen your observational and technical skills, imparting energy and power to your art and greatly improving you drawing techniques overall.

During the 2 1/2hours of these two online sessions we will copy a number of Master’s gestural and dynamic figure drawings and create our own working from photographic references of models I will provide.

Materials:

  • Paper: a pad of nice quality drawing paper such as Strathmore or Canson in medium finish, you can also use other decent –good quality paper you are used to, but preferably not newsprint paper.
