Foundation Crash Course Painting the Figure in Oil #324

This online, Foundation Crash Course is for the artists interested in approaching painting the human figure in oil or to further develop their painting technique.

During the 2-session of this course we will paint from a photographic reference of a photo by the professional model Vilidian Vilks, using a time-honored foundation oil painting technique practicing color mixing and color theory, planning a painting, precise brushwork, blending colors and more.

During the first of the two-2 ½ hour sessions, we will sketch the subject on canvas with charcoal, practicing measuring, proportions of the figure, and capturing the pose. We will then block in the main areas of color to establish the chromatic identity of the painting.

The second session is dedicated to bring the artwork to a finish, adding detail, careful blending, and expanding its tonal and chromatic range.

This course is part of a series of courses dedicated to painting the Figure and the Portrait in oil and it is open to all levels.
