NEW! Foundation Crash Courses: the Portrait

Two 3-hour sessions

This first Foundation Crash Course is dedicated to drawing a portrait in graphite on white paper, the classic approach to portraiture and drawing in general, perfect for developing your tonal rendering, sharpening up the precision and cleanliness of your lines, and improving the elegance of your drawing technique overall.

During the first session, we will create a precise line drawing of the subject, learn the proportions and structure of head and neck and practice measuring techniques, properly position the facial features, study the morphological characteristics of eyes, nose, mouth and ears.

The second session will be devoted to refine the initial line drawing, focusing on the details of the facial features and render the drawing tonally, progressively developing a tonal range, from the highest highlights to the darkest values, obtaining a convincing sense of volume and realistic effect.

This course is perfect for the artists approaching portraiture and those that want to further develop their existing skills.
