Painting in Plein Air an Artistic Escape in the Poconos Mountains

Painting in Plein Air, an Artistic Escape in the Poconos Mountains, June 28-29

This Plein air workshop, held in a beautiful setting of the Poconos mountains, is a great occasion to hone or develop your skills while immersed in nature. Here you will be painting landscapes in watercolor or oil in the company of other fellow artists, creating art, sharing ideas, and dedicating yourself to your artistic passion for two days without distractions.

The workshop will be held  on the beautiful property of Stephanie Zarus and Jeffrey Difrancesco. The Stonehaven Hill Farmstead  offers a great variety of views: wooded areas, a pond and a brook, fields of grass and distant mountains providing you with inspiration to be transformed into artwork.

Each day will be divided in two painting sessions: 10 am to 1pm and 2pm to 5pm with one hour lunch break between 1pm and 2pm.

The participating artists will choose and set up at the locations they prefer and I will be moving from easel to easel to give you advice, comments and instruction.

At the beginning of the first day I will give a demo on basic watercolor techniques, composition, color mixing, for about 1 hour, after which, you will look for a location of your choice to set up and paint. Each artist will decide if they want to paint in watercolor, oil or drawing media, to spend both days on a single painting or if  preferred, to create more than one painting changing locations.

Contact me in case you want to discuss materials to bring, such as paint, brushes, paper or canvases. You will also find a list of materials in this message.

Please bring your field easel and foldable chair, an umbrella for plein air to secure to the chair or easel can be useful but there will be plenty of shaded spots under trees to set up your easel. A beach umbrella will also do.

I will organize a Zoom meeting to answer any specific questions you might have.

The workshop tuition is $350 and includes only the instruction.
The address of the Stonehaven Farmstead is German Valley Road, Canadensis, PA
Parking and restroom are available on location and lunch and refreshment will be provided.

Below is a list of lodging options near the farmstead to assist you in finding local overnight accommodations.
